About

I graduated from the Australian National University, School of Art & Design with a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Hons, First Class) in 2017, Majoring in Glass.

Glass

My fascination with Glass is twofold. I love the working properties of molten glass, and would happily play with the material all day if I could. Equally, I am intrigued by the alchemical connotations and transparency of glass (or lack thereof), and how these elements may be used with artistic intent.

To this end, my glassblowing has split into two distinct streams;

  • My artistic practice utilises the intrinsic properties of blown glass in order to explore the often intangible symptomatic effects of mental health on the psyche.

  • Functional, production work that allows me to explore the vibrancy and fluidity of glass.

Knives

I trained as a glassblower throughout my time at uni, and during my second year of study I also started carving spoons from green wood. After a certain point, I needed a specialised knife. Rather than buying one (as would probably have been logical), I decided to make my own.

This is where my love of knifemaking started. I strive to make excellent quality tools that will last a lifetime. The majority of the timber I use for my handles is reclaimed - either from local suppliers, or timber I have salvaged myself.

I have a passion for learning new skills and anything I can make with my hands.
